On December 18, 2016, Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell, Los Angeles Police Department Assistant Chief Beatrice M. Girmala, Federal Bureau of Investigation Los Angeles Field Office Assistant Director in Charge Deirdre L. Fike and and Viking Carities Chief Donald Romley, gathered at Barker Hanger, Santa Monica Airport for the gathering and distribution of food for disadvantaged children. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s personnel from several stations along with staff from other various law enforcement agencies distributed the food throughout the county.
One of the many Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department units distributing food was Parks Bureau. Deputies and Security Officers from Parks Bureau delivered food and toys to five predesignated families at Salazar Park located at 3864 Whittier Boulevard, Los Angeles.
Also on hand at the event was Lieutenant John P. Anderson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau and a member of Viking Charity. Lieutenant Anderson said “This event gives us the opportunity to give back to many families during the holidays and see a deserving child smile”.
