Trooper and Sheriff’s Deputy Utilize Narcan to Revive Unresponsive Male
Vigo County—Yesterday evening, law enforcement and fire/EMS units responded to a convenience store at 4501 South 7th Street in Terre Haute after Vigo County Central Dispatch received a frantic 911 call from a female reporting an unconscious and non-breathing male on the floor of the restroom.
Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Sweeney was first on the scene and noticed the male was cyanotic and not breathing. Deputy Sweeney began CPR as Trooper Brad Fyfe arrived. The officers believed the victim’s unresponsiveness was caused by possible Heroin drug use as “track marks” were noticed on the victim. Trooper Fyfe quickly retrieved his ISP issued Narcan (Naloxone Hydrochloride) from his commission and the Nasal Narcan was applied into the victim’s nostrils by Deputy Chris Sweeney. Following the application, the victim became semi-conscious and more coherent. The 35-year-old victim was further stabilized at the scene by Honey Creek Fire/Rescue and Riley Fire/EMS personnel, and transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for additional treatment.
A female accomplice, 38-year-old Tamara C. Bryan of Terre Haute, IN., was found to be in possession of approximately one gram of Heroin and various hypodermic needles and during the event, gave false statements to the officers. Tamara C. Bryan was incarcerated in the Vigo County Jail on charges of Possession of Schedule I Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of a Syringe, and Public Administration False Informing.
