Traffic Safety Message: Strong Winds continue to cause, blowing & drifting snow on roads. Please be aware & slow down

Greetings,
The McHenry County Sheriff's Office reminds drivers to slow down and drive safely. Today, strong winds are causing blowing and drifting snow on roadways. This is causing piling of snow in areas and/ or some slick conditions. Most often we are seeing this in open areas, like near open fields.

Throughout the day we have responded to numerous cars in ditches and minor traffic crashes. We don't want to meet by accident on your way home, so please be aware of the current road conditions and drive safely during your commute home tonight.

Plow drivers and others public servants continue to work to do their part to clear the roadways; unfortunately winds are making this a difficult task. Please remember to give all first responders, tows, and plow drivers room to safely work. When you see our lights, slow down early and move over safely when possible.

Feel free to share this message with your family, friends, and co-workers.

Thank you!
