HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UPDATE
CORONA, CA– On November 23, 2016, at about 7 p.m., Corona Police dispatchers received a call from a distraught 17 year-old female on 9-1-1, reporting that her mother was bloody and unconscious in the 1000 block of E. Grand Blvd. Upon arrival, Corona Police and Fire personnel located a white female adult, deceased with several apparent stab wounds. Medical aid was performed at the scene, however the victim remained unresponsive and was pronounced deceased by paramedics.
Corona Police Detectives and the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s technicians were called to the scene to investigate the homicide. The victim was identified as 46-year-old Corona resident, Sharmon Intili, a mother of two teenage daughters.
Detectives have worked tirelessly in their efforts to solve this murder and bring the person responsible to justice.
Corona PD has served multiple search warrants at various locations looking for evidence, interviewed the victim’s neighbors and others whom the victim has known, and collected hours of video from strategically located video cameras. Detectives are working with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Scientific Investigations Division, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the State of California Department of Justice lab for comprehensive evidence analysis.
During the course of the investigation it was learned that Intili had ended a relationship with her boyfriend a few weeks before her violent death. According to friends and co-workers, Sharmon believed she was being stalked by her ex-boyfriend. She was fearful of him to the extent that she had a family friend assist her with changing the locks to the residence.
At this time, detectives have not ruled out the ex-boyfriend as a person of interest. Releasing his name at this time would be premature, as scientific evidence and the analysis of other significant evidentiary information is still pending. Detectives are following several leads in this case and anticipate a successful resolution.
