Winter Storm Warning in effect for Washington area thru Friday morning
National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect for Washington area thru Friday morning
LOW PRESSURE WILL INTENSIFY SOUTH OF NEW ENGLAND ON THURSDAY AND
MOVE NORTHEASTWARD ALONG THE MAINE COAST THURSDAY NIGHT. THE
RESULT WILL LIKELY BE HEAVY SNOW ACROSS THE INTERIOR AND
MOUNTAINS WITH SNOW CHANGING TO RAIN. SOME HEAVY SNOW IS POSSIBLE
SEVERAL MILES INLAND AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE ALONG THE SEACOAST OF
NEW HAMPSHIRE AND THE SOUTHWEST AND MIDCOAST AREAS OF MAINE. WINDS
WILL BECOME QUITE GUSTY AS WELL. THE COMBINATION OF WIND AND
POTENTIALLY WET SNOW MAY CAUSE POWER OUTAGES. THE PRECIPITATION
WILL COME TO AN END FROM SOUTH TO NORTH FRIDAY MORNING. THE EXACT
STORM TRACK IS NOT YET CERTAIN. A MORE WESTERLY TRACK WOULD MEAN
MORE RAIN AND MIXED PRECIPITATION FURTHER INLAND. A MORE EASTERLY
TRACK WOULD MEAN HEAVIER SNOWS FOR THE COAST.
A winter storm Warning indicates the potential for severe or damaging snow and wind weather conditions.
