Be Aware of Possible City Employee Impersonator
Lewisville police are investigating two incidents Tuesday afternoon in which a man impersonated a city code enforcement officer in an effort to access residential backyards.
The first incident was on Holly Oak in the Timberbrook Addition, and the second was on Tanner Drive in the Orchard Valley Estates neighborhood.
In both cases, an African-American man wearing a white shirt and a tie told the resident he was a Lewisville code officer and needed to get into their backyard. Neither resident granted access. The man did not present any identification, and no vehicle was reported.
Residents are urged be cautious if approached by someone claiming to work for the city. Lewisville code officers wear city-issued shirts, carry a city-issued photo identification card, and have a badge (attached). Code Officers also drive trucks with the city logo on the doors. Any resident approached by someone claiming to be a city code officer who does not have proper identification should contact the Lewisville Police Department at 972.219.3600.
