Gary Man Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on Interstate 80

The Indiana State Police investigated a single vehicle crash on Thursday December 29th, 2016 that left one man fatally injured.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Andrew Rasala revealed that on December 28th, 2016 at 11:40 PM a 1995 blue in color Cadillac, being driven by John Vinson, 58, of Gary, Indiana, was traveling eastbound in the far left lane near the 11.6 mile marker of Interstate 80. According to eye witnesses at the scene, the vehicle swerved across all lanes of travel before running off the roadway and striking the impact attenuators for the ramp to Interstate 65 northbound. After initial impact, the vehicle spun counter clockwise coming to a rest on the outside shoulder facing southwest. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Lake County Coroner. Family of the deceased has been notified.
