20-yr old female in custody after leading GCSO Deputies in pursuit; stolen vehicle recovered

On Wednesday (12/28/16), a Greene County Sheriff's Deputy observed a dark red Chevy truck which had been reported stolen out of Greene County in the area of West Republic Road and South Farm Road 135. The Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop with the vehicle when the driver failed to stop, leading the Deputy in a brief pursuit through southwest Greene County. Another Deputy successfully deployed stop sticks to deflate the vehicle's tires which the driver struck yet continued driving.

The driver of the vehicle eventually struck a small tree in Nathaniel Greene Park on South Scenic Avenue; a 20-year old female was taken into custody without further incident.

The investigation is still on-going and Deputies are attempting to locate a white male who may have been another possible occupant. The stolen truck was recovered and the female was transported to the jail. Several charges including Tampering with a Motor Vehicle and Resisting Arrest may be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for further review.

*A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.*
