GCSO Deputies investigating storage unit burglary in northern Greene County arrest 31-yr old female
On Wednesday (12/28/16), Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a storage unit facility located in the 3500 block of North Farm Road 183 to check on a suspicious vehicle on the property after-hours. Deputies contacted a male and female at the storage unit; upon detaining the female, the male fled from the location into a nearby wooded area. Additional Deputies responded to the area to establish a perimeter and attempted to apprehend the male with the assistance of a K9 unit.
Deputies seized several items from the vehicle and storage unit. After an extensive search of the area, Deputies were unable to locate the male suspect.
"The investigation is just beginning," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. "There have been over 30 reported burglaries of storage units since September 1, 2016. With this arrest, the recovery of several stolen items and the continued assistance from our citizens, we are working diligently to find the individuals responsible for the thefts and return property to its rightful owners."
The female was transported to the Greene County Jail and Greene County Sheriff's Detectives are still investigating the incident. Charges may be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for further review.
*A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.*
