Modesto, CA – A Modesto man dies in solo motorcycle traffic collision in northeast Modesto.
Early this morning, an officer attempted to stop a motorcyclist traveling above the speed limit southbound on Coffee Road passing Floyd Avenue. After emergency lights and sirens were activated, the motorcycle driver fled from the officer at a high rate of speed. A short distance later, the officer caught up to the driver and discovered the man had collided with the center median at E. Briggsmore Avenue. Emergency personnel on scene attempted life saving measures; however, their attempts were unsuccessful and the driver was pronounced deceased.
The driver has been identified as 37-year-old Nicholas Bodiford of Modesto. As a standard practice in a fatal vehicle collision, the Modesto Police Department Traffic Unit has initiated a comprehensive investigation. This investigation is in the early stages and witness statements as well as physical evidence is being thoroughly evaluated before any collision factor or cause will be determined.
