Homicide

On December 29, 2016 at 7:21 P.M., officers from the Norton Shores Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Norton ave and Henry st. in Norton Shores on a report of shots fired. Officers arrived on the scene within a minute of the call and found multiple rifle shell casings in the roadway.

Officers also located a silver vehicle at Norton and Temple in Muskegon Hts that had crashed into a building. The driver of the vehicle was found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead at that location. The victim is identified as a 38 yr old male from Roosevelt Park and Detroit, Mi. The victim’s name will not be released until the family has been notified.

Investigators believe this was a targeted shooting, not random. Information regarding the reason for the shooting will not be released until the investigation is complete. According to witnesses at the scene a white colored sedan was seen leaving the area E/B on Norton ave.

The Norton Shores Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, the Muskegon Hts Police Department and the Muskegon Police Department.
