Burglary Suspect Arrested

On Sunday, January 01, 2017, at approximately 1915 hours, the commercial business owner at 1445 Huntington Drive, in South Pasadena, called the South Pasadena Police Department to report he had an alarm activation sent to his cellphone with live surveillance camera footage of a suspect burglarizing his business office on the third floor of the building. This address is a three story multi-unit commercial office building closed for the night.

Officers were immediately dispatched to the address and arrived on scene within moments. Officers surrounded the building to find the suspect attempting to flee from the building via the front lobby doors. The suspect, upon seeing the officers, turned around and tried to escape from the rear of the building. The suspect realized the building was surrounded and ran to the interior stairwell to avoid capture.
Officers from San Marino, San Gabriel, and Alhambra Police Department responded to a mutual aid request along with Air Support from Pasadena Police Department. Additionally, Pasadena Police Department provided a K-9 officer as well.

While waiting for additional personnel to arrive to conduct a building entry and search for the suspect, the P.P.D.’s K-9 officer made several K-9 deployment announcements to advise the suspect of the pending search for him.

As this was transpiring, the suspect called the South Pasadena Police Department and requested to speak with a supervisor. The watch commander called the suspect on his cellular telephone and spoke with him.

After a few minute conversation regarding the peaceful surrender of the suspect, the suspect came out of the building and was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect is a 45 year old male resident of Alhambra and is a career criminal. The suspect is currently on probation for felony burglary. His vehicle was recovered at the location and will be thoroughly examined by detectives.
