Milltown Police Department Emergency Operations Center NWS (Louisville) SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT

330 PM EST Tue Jan 3 2017 /230 PM CST Tue Jan 3 2017/

...First Accumulating Snow of the Season Likely Thursday...

Confidence is increasing that the first widespread accumulating
snow of the season will come to portions of southern Indiana and
central Kentucky Thursday and Thursday night. At this time, 1 to 2
inches of snow is forecast with the potential for localized 3 inch
amounts. The greatest chance for this accumulating snow is across
southern Indiana and north central Kentucky, however slight
changes in the track of the weather system could result in shifts
further north or south.

This snow could result in negative travel impacts to motorists,
especially during the morning and evening commute times. Research
incorporating traffic accidents and winter precipitation show
that the first accumulating snow of the season typically results in
a higher frequency of accidents. Please stay tuned to the latest
forecasts.
