Flood watch, significant rainfall through Tuesday night expect to see flooding, mudslides & power outages.

The City of Ukiah would like to inform Ukiah Valley residents and visitors that the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch the Ukiah area and the Russian River near Hopland.  The next weather system will bring another round of significant rainfall through Tuesday night.  This additional 3 to 5 inches of rainfall has the potential to cause flooding, mudslides, and power outages.
 
Residents are encouraged to prepare for this storm by:
 

  • Reducing of eliminating unnecessary travel during the storm period
  • Having emergency supplies on hand: sandbags, prescription medications, food/water, flashlights, battery-operated radio, extra batteries, important documents, supplies for your pets, etc.
  • Checking on neighbors who may have special needs in advance of the storm
  • Preparing for potential power outages due to wind, downed trees, etc.
  • Removing debris from gutters and drainage areas, placing sandbags out in potential flooding areas.  Friedman’s Home Improvement Store is offering up to 20 free sandbags
  • Checking to insure pets/livestock are safe, especially those animals that live outside
  • Listen to your local radio and television stations for changing weather and emergency alerts
  • Please use 9-1-1 for emergencies only.
 
If you have trees on or near your property be aware of their surroundings, watch for falling limbs, wood debris and falling trees.  Some trees have power and/or communication lines attached to them, these trees and lines should not be touched.  If you are a City of Ukiah utility customer, please call the power outage 24-hour hotline at 463-6288 to report any downed power lines or power outages.  If you are a PG&E customer, please call 800-743-5000.
 
The City of Ukiah will be monitoring the incoming storm and will provide information through our Social Media Sites, Nixle system and local radio when necessary.
