On January 6, 2017 Giles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence located on Speiden Road in Eastern Giles County. The nature of the complaint was in reference to an explosion at the residence. Upon their arrival Deputies observed multiple windows and the front door to have been damaged due to some type of explosive device. The owner of the residence was removed from the residence and the scene was secured. Investigators arrived on the scene a short time later. During the course of the investigation the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) was contacted.
BATFE sent numerous agents on the following date to collect evidence and process the scene. The investigation continues as a joint effort between the Giles County Sheriff’s Department and BATFE. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank The BATFE for their rapid assistance in this investigation and the Giles County Office of Emergency Management for arranging the use of a command post trailer from Homeland Security District 8 in Lawrenceburg.
