The National Weather Service has just issued a Flash Flood Watch for Healdsburg for the next 24 hours specifically. A Flood Watch as defined by Weather.gov is issued when conditions are favorable for flooding. It does not mean flooding will occur, but it is possible.” DO NOT attempt to drive over flooded roads. County-wide citizens are becoming stranded due to attempts to cross flooded roadways. If you come upon a flooded roadway, please take a detour. It is easy to underestimate the force and power of water; a flood could have caused the roadbed to collapse, and even water that doesn’t look deep or fast flowing can still sweep your vehicle away. Be especially careful at night when flood dangers are hard to recognize. Also, do not attempt to cross on foot; moving water as little as 6 inches deep can sweep you off your feet.
The City of Healdsburg has closed the sandbag operation at the Community Center. The Public Works department notes that residents filled approximately 5,000 bags between Friday and Monday morning. In the event that the rainfall exceeds predictions and the need arises for additional sandbags the City will reopen the station. We advise residents to monitor the latest forecast with the local weather channels.
