Muncie – Troopers made four drug arrests in two nights in Muncie after stopping vehicles for traffic and equipment violations. The first occurred on Monday night when Trooper Dana Harvey stopped a car around 6:20 p.m. on E. Howard St. just east of Monroe for driving left of center and for driving in the middle of the roadway.

After making contact with the driver, James D. Rhodes, age 33 of Muncie, and further investigation, Harvey cited Rhodes for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia and Driving While Suspended with a Prior Conviction, all misdemeanor charges.  In addition a 15 year old passenger in the vehicle was released to the parents.

Later that same night, Trooper Sam Cook stopped a Honda Civic around 10 p.m. at 7th St. and Hackley for failing to dim their headlights. After making contact with the driver, Daevon McGhee, age 26 of Anderson, Cook could smell marijuana.  Further investigation revealed marijuana in the vehicle and on McGhee’s person.  After transporting McGhee to the Delaware County Jail, he was found to be attempting to conceal and take additional Marijuana into the jail with him.

McGhee was lodged for Trafficking with an Inmate, Felony, as well as misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia. McGhee was also charged with False Informing, as he initially gave officers an incorrect name at the scene. A male passenger in McGhee’s vehicle was released at the scene, and a small child unrestrained in the rear seat was released to the child’s mother.

Then last night, around 9:30 p.m. Trooper Harvey stopped an SUV on Walnut, around Memorial Drive, for an equipment violation. As the driver, Wyman Beaty, age 29 of Muncie rolled down his window, Trooper Harvey detected a strong odor of marijuana. After further investigation Harvey located marijuana in the vehicle.  Beaty was cited for Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.

Then at 11:47 p.m. last night Trooper Harvey stopped a north bound SUV on Madison, around E. 3rd after the vehicle drove left of center, over the double yellow lines, into oncoming traffic. After making contact with the driver and occupants, one of the occupants, Jasmine Wallace, age 18 of Muncie, was found to be in possession of pills believed to be Xanax, and Marijuana.
