Another Stolen Vehicle recovered at Walmart
On Wednesday January 11, 2017 at about 7:30 AM an Anderson Police Officer was patrolling the Walmart Parking Lot looking for stolen vehicles. Anderson Officers recognize that the car thieves in Shasta County have not learned that Anderson PD finds stolen vehicles there on a regular basis. On this morning the officer noticed a red Honda Civic with no license plate. He knew that a red Honda Civic was recently stolen so he decided to investigate. As he drove past the car to make a safe approach on the vehicle a white female adult exited the vehicle and quickly entered Walmart. The officer had to check the vehicle’s VIN to run the registration and find out if it was the stolen red Honda. Once he confirmed that this was the stolen vehicle, the Anderson Officer went into Walmart and contacted security. The officer and Walmart security reviewed the video of the woman exiting the car and entering the store. The officer then determined where she was in the store and made contact with her.
She was detained in handcuffs and identified as 22 year old Shaina Tanner of Redding. Property with her name on it was located in the vehicle. She was arrested and booked into Shasta County Jail.
The vehicle was towed to a secure location and later released to the rightful owner.
We would like to thank Walmart Security for continuing to work with us to deter crime in our community.
