Arrest of Theft Suspect from Big 5 and Staples

On January 10, 2017 at about 8:00 pm, San Luis Obispo police officers responded to Best Buy because a person in the store matched the description of the suspect in the Broad Street thefts the day before. An alert citizen, who had seen the suspect’s photo from the press release, called the police when he recognized the person in the store. When officers arrived, they located and arrested Sean Reinhardt who was in possession of stolen property from the original thefts. Reinhardt was actually wearing the shoes he had stolen from Big 5 the day earlier. Other property from the Big 5 and Staples thefts was located in a car in the parking lot.
Reinhardt was booked at San Luis Obispo County Jail without incident. The police department is very appreciative of citizens who work with us to combat crime. The citizen in this case was instrumental to the police department apprehending the suspect.
