Major Traffic Alert SB Hwy 17 & Major Traffic Alert Hwy 9 at Ridgecrest 
Per the California Highway Patrol (CHP), southbound Hwy 17 at the Cats is experiencing extended delays due to urgent hillside repairs and roadwork on southbound Hwy 17 at the Cats. Hwy 9 at Sanborn is closed indefinitely.
Caltrans is anticipating the work to be completed at approximately 3:00 a.m. (weather permitting). One southbound lane is open and vehicles are being allowed to pass intermittently as the heavy equipment continues the work.
Los Gatos and Monte Sereno streets are being heavily impacted. A suggested alternate route for motorists trying to reach the Santa Cruz area is Hwy 85 to southbound Hwy 101 and then westbound on Hwy 129.
Ridgecrest Ave. at Hwy 9 in Monte Sereno will be closed to through traffic for approximately 3-4 hours due to a tree and wires down. PG&E and tree crews are on scene working to clear the roadway.
Residents who decide to park their vehicles are asked to secure their belongings.
