Man Arrested for Bank Robbery. 
On Friday, December 23, 2016, at approximately 5:30pm, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to PNC Bank on Cumberland Road in reference to a bank robbery. Upon arrival, Officers learned that that the suspect had already left the scene and, a search of the area failed to locate the suspect. The case was forwarded to the Hope Mills Police Department Detective Division and during the course of their investigation, Detectives learned that Robert Estel Charles Fout, 44 of the 90 block of North Ann Street, Asheville NC, was responsible for the robbery.
On Tuesday, January 3, 2017, Hope Mills Police Officers received a Crimestoppers tip that Fout was walking along John Smith Road in Hope Mills. Officers responded to the area, located Fout, and took him into custody without incident. Fout was transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed under a $60,000.00 bond for the following charges:
1 count of Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
1 count of Felony Possession of Stolen Goods
