Yesterday, January 12th, officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department made multiple burglary of a habitation arrests.
At approximately 12:00 pm officers observed a white 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt being driven by a black male in the 2300 block of Duvall. Officers observed the driver stop at a residence and then get out to go knock on the front door. The suspect was then seen going to the rear of the residence. The suspect came back up front, got back into his vehicle and drove away. Officers later observed the same vehicle in the alley of the 2300 block of Duvall. The same suspect was seen jumping a fence and carrying a grey bag to the vehicle. The suspect began to drive away when WFPD officers stopped the vehicle. The grey bag that officers saw the suspect carrying was inside the vehicle. The driver was identified as 37 year old James Johnson.
Officers began to check the residence and discovered a rear window to the residence had been broken. The owner was contacted and arrived on scene. The owner of the residence discovered that the electricity to the residence, along with the alarm system, had been turned off. The owner also discovered some personal electronics missing along with a grey bag. The missing electronics were found to be inside the same grey bag that was located in the vehicle Johnson had been driving.
Johnson was arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail. On a search incident to arrest he was found to be in possession of a plastic bag with .3 ounces of a green leafy material that field tested positive for marijuana. He was charged with burglary of a habitation and possession of marijuana.
Later that same day at approximately 2:45 pm WFPD officers responded to the 1900 block of 8th Street in reference to a burglary warrant. Upon arrival they located 50 year Kelly Rickman who had a warrant for her arrest. The warrant stemmed from a burglary that took place December 28, 2016 in the 2600 block of Buchanan.
At approximately 6:00 pm on December 28, 2016 WFPD officers responded to the 2600 block of Buchanan for a burglary of a habitation. Upon arrival officers spoke to the victim who stated that an unknown suspect had forced entry into their residence by breaking a window. Once inside the suspect took various electronics to include a gaming system and accessories.
Once the case was turned over to Detectives with the WFPD Crimes against Property Unit they were able to gather enough probable cause to lead to an arrest warrant for Rickman being issued.
Rickman was transported to the Wichita County jail where she was booked in on the burglary of a habitation warrant.
