Report of subjects firing a pistol at Anderson River Park causes brief closure.
On Friday January 13, 2017 at about 1232 PM a citizen reported seeing subjects shooting a silver and black pistol near the “Big Oak Tree” at Anderson River Park. The subjects involved were associated with a black Ford Crown Victoria that looked like an old police car.
Anderson Police used volunteers and a cadet to close the entrance to the park for the safety of the community.
Officers used high risk tactics to approach the area of the park where the subjects were seen. A total of five subjects were detained and interviewed. The weapon was located and turned out to be a pellet gun. All the subjects were admonished about firing a pellet gun in city limits and released at the scene.
