ISP Troopers Assist Indianapolis Metro Police with Apprehension
Putnamville—This evening at approximately 4:55, Indiana State Police troopers from the Indianapolis and Putnamville Posts were assisting officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) with a vehicle pursuit that entered the Putnamville District westbound on Interstate 70 from the Indianapolis area.
As more officers were closing in, the silver Dodge Journey exited onto US 231 (exit 41) and proceeded northbound, then quickly made a U-turn to proceed southbound and in doing so, collided with an Indiana State Police vehicle. The suspect continued southbound and then voluntarily stopped at a convenience mart at US 231 and County Road 900 South, near Cloverdale (Putnam County). The driver exited the vehicle and without incident, submitted himself to officers from multiple jurisdictions.
After the 19-year-old Indianapolis man was taken into custody, he was examined by Putnam County Operation Life paramedics for complaint of back pain from the crash and released to law enforcement. Immediately following the examination, the suspect was transported back to an IMPD substation for further investigation.
There were no crash injuries incurred to ISP personnel.
No other information will be released by the Indiana State Police.
Any and all additional information inquiries should be directed to IMPD officials.
No pictures attached.
Also assisting ISP and IMPD were the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and the Cloverdale Police Department.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
