Whew! Sierra Avalanche Center Avalanche advisory reduced to "moderate". Please be watchful in known avalanche areas!
The Sierra Avalanche Center has reduced the advisory level to moderate. Please continue to use caution in exposed areas below known avalanche terrain, trees heavily laden with snow and overhanging roof areas with accumulated snow on them. Make sure that vents for furnaces, water heaters and other appliances are clear of snow - this is the situation in which we see carbon monoxide issues due to obstructed venting.
There are downed wires - most of which are telephone and TV cable - in various places around the Valley. The utility companies are working heroically to get everything back up and working, but unless a cable has been reported and cleared by the fire department or utility provider, don't touch it!!
Finally, please remember that all parked vehicles must be out of the roadway if County snow removal efforts are to be effective. There is 72 hour parking for residents just west of Graham's restaurant on Squaw Valley Road. This is a good place to stash a vehicle while your street or parking area is being plowed.
