Stolen Vehicle Arrest
On January 13, 2017, at approximately 10:06 PM, a Menlo Park Police officer observed a red Prius in the area of Euclid and O’Connor in East Palo Alto. The officer recognized the vehicle as being similar to one taken several hours earlier during the commission of a residential burglary in East Palo Alto. A check on the license plate confirmed that it was in fact the same vehicle. The officer followed the vehicle, and once additional officers were in the area, conducted a stop on the vehicle in the 500 block of O’Connor Street in Menlo Park. All four occupants of the stolen vehicle were detained and identified without incident. The driver, a 13-year old male from East Palo Alto, was ultimately arrested and booked into Hillcrest juvenile detention facility for being in possession of stolen property. The three passengers, a 14-year old and a 15-year old from Redwood City, as well as a 21-year old from East Palo Alto were detained and ultimately released to family members. The vehicle they were contacted in was returned to its owner.
The Menlo Park Police Department is currently looking into the possibility that these suspects may be associated to other burglaries in and around the Menlo Park area over the past several weeks.
The Menlo Park Police Department is asking anyone who might have information about this case to call Menlo Park Police Department at (650) 330-6300 or the Menlo Park Police Anonymous Tip Hotline at (650) 330-6395.
