Modesto, CA – A Sunday evening solo traffic collision leaves one injured and one deceased.
At about 10:00 p.m. Sunday night, officers responded to a reported traffic collision on E. Briggsmore Avenue at Coffee Road. Upon arrival, they found the male driver and female passenger with significant injuries and both were transported to a local hospital.
The early investigation indicates that 35-year-old Kaleb Isley and his passenger, 36-year-old Nichole Martinez of Chowchilla, were stopped at a red light in the westbound lanes of E. Briggsmore at Coffee. Isley’s friend was in another vehicle stopped alongside him at the intersection. When the light turned green, Isley accelerated and lost control of his vehicle, colliding with a tree.
Isley suffered a non-life threatening head injury as a result of the collision. Martinez was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The second male driver stayed at the collision scene and is cooperating with investigators. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision.
As a standard procedure in a fatal vehicle collision, the Modesto Police Department Traffic Unit has initiated a comprehensive collision investigation and encourages anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tipsters may also text information to Crime Stoppers at 274637. Just type “TIP704” along with your message.
