Tree Falls on Students at Chula Vista Middle School

On 01/20/2017, at 1:30 PM the Chula Vista Police Department responded to Chula Vista Middle School located at 415 Fifth Avenue for a report of several students struck by a tree that fell on school grounds.

Officers arrived on scene and found that four students had been struck by a large falling Peppertree located in the school courtyard. All four students complained of back and head pain as a result of being hit by the tree. The students were transported by paramedics to Children's Hospital for evaluation.

The School Resource Officer Division will be working with school officials to determine the cause of the accident but the recent storms in San Diego County are believed to be the reason for the falling tree.
