COASTAL FLOODING AND MINOR TIDAL FLOODING IS LIKELY WITH MONDAY MORNING`S HIGH TIDE ALONG WITH STRONG AND POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY EVENING.
TIMING...HIGH TIDE ON THE OCEANFRONT OCCURS BETWEEN 4 AND 5 AM. HIGH TIDE ON THE BACK BAYS, WILL OCCUR SEVERAL HOURS LATER THAN ON THE OCEAN FRONT. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR DURING THE DAY MONDAY.
WIND IMPACTS...DAMAGING WINDS COULD BLOW DOWN TREES AND POWER LINES. SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS POWER OUTAGES ARE EXPECTED. TRAVEL WILL BE DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE AT A LOCATION THAT IS PRONE TO TIDAL FLOODING. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS. THE WATER MAY BE DEEPER THAN YOU THINK IT IS. YOU WILL BE PUTTING YOURSELF IN DANGER AND YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE DAMAGED...LEADING TO COSTLY REPAIRS.

MAYOR AMATO WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE THE LATEST INFORMATION FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 23rd THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 11 AM AND A HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 PM EST.

SURGE...2 TO 3 FEET ABOVE ASTRONOMICAL TIDE. WAVES HEIGHTS...6 TO 8 FEET.
WINDS... EAST 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH.

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS THAT MINOR TIDAL FLOODING IS EXPECTED. MINOR TIDAL FLOODING OFTEN RESULTS IN SOME ROAD CLOSURES. USUALLY THE MOST VULNERABLE ROADWAYS WILL FLOOD.
A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR GUSTS OF 58 MPH OR MORE CAN LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE AT A LOCATION THAT IS PRONE TO TIDAL FLOODING. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS. THE WATER MAY BE DEEPER THAN YOU THINK IT IS. YOU WILL BE PUTTING YOURSELF IN DANGER AND YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE DAMAGED...LEADING TO COSTLY REPAIRS.

If a power outage occurs call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report their outage or click the Report Outages link on: www.firstenergycorp.com via smart phone. In the event of downed utility wires, you should immediately report them to JCP&L at the number above and the Berkeley Township Police Department at 732-341-6600. Residents should never go near a downed power line, even if they think it is no longer carrying electricity.

Residents should take necessary measures to secure all of your loose items on your property. Such as patio furniture, chairs, tables, sporting equipment, awnings, etc.
Residents in low lying areas that frequently flood, can use the upper parking lot at the Berkeley Recreation Center or the lower lot at the Central Regional Middle School for vehicles.
