Rocky River Support for CPD Officer Fahey
On the morning of Tuesday, 01/24/2017, Cleveland Police Officer David Fahey was killed in the line of duty when struck by a motorist on Interstate-90. At the time of his death, Officer Fahey was assisting in closing the Interstate so Rocky River Police and Ohio State Highway Patrol could safely investigate a fatal motor vehicle accident in Rocky River.
Officer Fahey's stepfather is retired Cleveland Police Officer Mark Ketterer. After retirement, Officer Ketterer has continued his public service in Rocky River as a Community Service Officer with our Department.
The men and women of the Rocky River Police Department would like to express our deepest condolences to the Fahey family, CSO Ketterer, the members of the Cleveland Police Department, especially those in the 1st District, and the entire Greater Cleveland Police community who is hurting from this tragic loss.
The funeral procession for Officer Fahey will come through Rocky River on Saturday, 01/28/2017 between 9:00 and 10:00 AM on Hilliard Blvd. as it travels from the Chambers Funeral Home in on Stearns Rd. in North Olmsted to the Our Lady of Angels Church on Rocky River Dr. in Cleveland.
Officer Fahey died serving the City of Cleveland specifically, but our greater Cleveland community as a whole. If you are interested in showing his family, colleagues, and community your support during this difficult time, consider being present on Hilliard Blvd. between 9:00 and 10:00 AM on Saturday. A group will be gathering on Hilliard Blvd. at the City Hall campus near Wagar Rd. and all Rocky River residents and community members are welcome to congregate there and line the street as far east and west as we can. If you can't make it there, being out showing your support anywhere on Hilliard Blvd. will be appreciated.
The Rocky River Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association will be posting Blue Ribbons along Hilliard Blvd. near Wagar Rd. Please consider doing so on your home, wearing Blue Ribbons, waving American flags, or saluting or holding your hands over hearts as the procession passes.
