Ongoing Shooting Investigation

Downey, CA, January 30, 2017
The Downey Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the 7800 block of Borson Street, Downey. At about 1:00 a.m. this morning, an off-duty L.A.P.D. officer confronted two burglary suspects at his residence. During the encounter, the officer was assaulted and discharged his weapon. Both suspects sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The officer was also treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently under investigation by investigators from the Downey Police Department. As is protocol with any officer involved shooting in Los Angeles County, the District Attorney’s Office is also conducting an investigation.
