Fatal Stabbing of a 27-year-old Man

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department Valley Bureau detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect who killed a 27-year-old man.

On January 29, 2017, at 5:00 p.m., Mission Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of an “Ambulance Cutting” in the 13000 block of Dronfield Avenue.

When officers arrived, they were met by Los Angeles City Fire Paramedics, who were treating the victim, 27-year-old Terrel Butler from Los Angeles.  Paramedics transported Butler to a local hospital and despite lifesaving efforts, Butler succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, who was later identified as 20-year-old David Bird, went to the location to see the mother of his child.  She did not want to see Bird, so Butler who was at the location advised Bird she did not want to see him.  Bird became upset and a fight ensued.  Bird produced a knife and stabbed Butler multiple times and fled the location on a bicycle to an unknown area.

Los Angeles Police Department Operations Valley Bureau Homicide detectives responded and conducted their investigation and confirmed the identification of the victim, Terrel Butler, and the suspect, David Bird, a parolee from Los Angeles.
