CRIME REPORT DECEMBER 2016 & JANUARY 2017
Northfield Township Police continue to strive in keeping Northfield Township a quality place to live, work and play. 2016 wrapped up the year with nearly 5000 calls for service; down from the 5200 in 2015. December was a busy month with the following incidents being reported:
12/29/16- Fraud/Larceny by Conversion, a suspect was developed, majority of the property was returned to victim, remains as an outstanding civil case
12/28/16- 8300 Block of Main Street Larceny (Theft) from Residence – with a possible known suspect, the case is currently under investigation
12/28/16- Westbrook Apartments B & E (Break In) of Residence – a suspect was arrested – no property stolen
12/28/16- 4500 Block of Six Mile Rd B & E of Residence –a suspect was developed – property was recovered - warrant issued by prosecutor
12/28/16- 9000 Block of Main St – Fraud/Counterfeit Bills used for payment – a Suspect identified –Restitution was made – no prosecution desired by victim
12/28/16- Report of –Fraud/Illegal Procurement of Bank Account transaction – PayPal – No suspect, Victim also filed report with Banking Institution
12/28/16- 600 Block of Six Mile Rd – Larceny from Garage – a Suspect was identified - Property was recovered – Warrant Charges were issued by Prosecutors Office
12/25/16- 8300 Main St –Larceny from Auto – Victim left his work vehicle unlocked & unknown suspect(s) entered and removed property – no witnesses
12/22/16– Identity Theft/ Fraudulent submittal for Unemployment Benefits – Victim’s employer advised victim that someone filed for unemployment using victim’s personal information
12/22/16- 1500 N. Territorial - Identity Theft- W2 Phishing Scam – was forwarded what the documentation requested – no suspects
12/20/16-Whitmore Lake Rd & North Territorial- Crash – OUID (Operating under Influence of Drugs) during a 2 car crash investigation, officers made an arrest of one of the drivers
12/19/16 1000 Block of Jennings - Identity Theft/Fraudulent submittal for Unemployment Benefits – Victim reported that victims employer advised that someone filed for MI unemployment benefits using victims name – Process terminated, Case closed
12/16/16- Northfield Estates – Larceny/MDOP – Skirting was removed from residence between November & December 2016 – no witnesses & no suspects developed
12/15/16- Main Street - Larceny of Firewood – Victim left wood unattended and without signage & property was removed- no suspects
12/15/16- Whitmore Lake High School – Possession of a Knife at School “Weapon in School Zone” - Juvenile Petitions completed – warrant issued
12/14/16 Maple Rd – MDOP – Mailboxes- suspects broke rural mailboxes with a bat – no witnesses, no suspects
12/03/16- 8400 Block of Earhart - B&E Residence – Jewelry, change, TV stolen, no signs of forced entry – suspect may be an acquaintance – the case is currently under investigation
January 1- 24, 2017 has had officers responding to 295 calls for service, most have been non-criminal in nature, allowing officer to focus on traffic patrol requests.
01/11/17 -High School – a report of a written “bomb threat” message left in the boy’s bathroom was investigated with assistance from MSP Troopers and K-9’s. The incident was unfounded.
