HMPD Investigators Arrest Man For Murder.
On Monday, January 30, 2017, at approximately 9:20pm, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to the Millstone Shopping Center in reference to a subject that had been shot. Upon arrival, Officers found the victim at his vehicle and that he had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later succumbed to his wounds. During the course of their investigation into this crime, Detectives found that the victim was followed to Millstone Shopping Center by another vehicle which was occupied by Jarrod Lamont McLaurin,29, of the 100 block of Birdsong Drive, Lumber Bridge and, when the victim parked his car in a parking space he was shot by McLaurin as he exited the vehicle.
On the morning of Tuesday, January 31, 2017, McLaurin was taken into custody with the assistance of the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office. Hope Mills Police Investigators also executed a search warrant of McLaurin’s residence where items believed to be connected with the crime were recovered. Following his arrest, McLaurin was transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed under no bond for the following charges:
