Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Arrest

New Castle – A traffic stop for an apparent expired plate led to a felony drug arrest here in New Castle last evening. Trooper Justin Beamon stopped the white Chevrolet at SR 3 and Garner last evening around 10:37 p.m. for a plate that showed it expired in 2016. After making contact with the driver, Ryan Pierce, age 29, it was determined he was driving while his license was suspended.

A Henry County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit was nearby, and came to assist. During an open air walk around search of the vehicle, the dog indicated the presence of narcotics. During a search a prescription drug was found, a pill believed to be a prescription drug called Methocarbamol.

A passenger in the car, Crystal Sparks, age 24 of Martinsville, didn’t have a prescription for the drug. She was arrested and charged with Possession of a Legend Drug, Level 5 Felony. She was lodged in the Henry County Jail.

The driver, Ryan Pierce, was cited for Driving While Suspended and released. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver. Anyone with information about illegal drug activity may call the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous
