Anderson Police Upgrade Procedure for Animal Related Calls for Service
Effective immediately, the Anderson Police Department will be providing an upgrade in service to the community for calls and reports that concern animals. Examples of common calls for service may include strays, animal nuisance (barking dog), animals abandoned in hot vehicle, vicious, aggressive, injured and/or lost animals.
All animal control related business will now be handled exclusively by the Haven Humane Society. This will also include all dog licensing services for the City of Anderson. Citizens are encouraged to contact Haven Humane Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. at (530)-245-2550, regarding any animal related business or calls for service. Haven Humane is located at 7449 Eastside Road.
As part of the new procedure, Haven Humane will also proactively patrol our community for animal issues. This will reduce animal related problems and better serve the City of Anderson in a function that was previously and primarily a reactive function for the police department. After hours, calls for service can still be made with Anderson Police as required.
The Anderson Police Department is optimistic that this new procedure will ultimately better serve our community and provide more resources for our citizens.
