K-9 AERO HELPS LOCATE 65 YEAR OLD DRUG DEALERS METHAMPHETAMINE

On Saturday, February 4, 2017, at about 01:30 AM an Anderson Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation in the area of Balls Ferry Rd. and Shady Ln. The officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, who was found to be on probation out of Shasta County. The passenger in the vehicle, Patricia JOHNSON, age 65, of Anderson, advised she was having the male drive her vehicle because she had difficulty driving at night.

Officers were familiar with both the driver and JOHNSON and knew of their past criminal history, which included several narcotics related offenses.

Officers deployed K-9 Aero to the exterior of the vehicle to conduct a free-air sniff around the vehicle. K-9 Aero gave a positive alert to the presence of a narcotic odor emitting from the vehicle. K-9 Aero was deployed to the interior of the vehicle and gave a positive alert to a black A.A.R.P. zipper pouch on the passenger floorboard where JOHNSON had been seated.

A search of the zipper pouch revealed methamphetamine packaged for sales, a digital scale with methamphetamine residue, and additional new/unused packaging materials.

JOHNSON later admitted to selling methamphetamine and stated she has been selling methamphetamine for over two years.

JOHNSON was place under arrest for possession and transportation of methamphetamine for sales, and was booked into the Shasta County Jail.
