Double Fatal Traffic Collision
Universal City: A traffic collision in Universal City, leads to the death of two, ends on the 101 Freeway.
On Saturday, February 4, 2017, about 7:30 p.m., a double fatal vehicle traffic collision occurred in the community of Universal City.
A silver Toyota Sienna was traveling southbound on Barham Boulevard, when the driver failed to stop for a red tri-light at W.C. Fields Drive, collided with a traffic sign, and a chain linked fence before the Sienna ran off the roadway onto the 101 freeway.
The Sienna went air borne clearing five lanes of the northbound 101 Freeway before landing on the center divider. The Sienna bounced off the center divider and collided into a Kia Spectra that was traveling southbound on the 101 Freeway.
The driver and the passenger inside the Sienna were killed upon impact.
The identity of the driver and passenger are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Kia driver is a resident of Los Angeles, who suffered minor injuries.
He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
Valley Traffic Detectives are looking for additional witnesses to the collision.
