Mayor Delivers State of the City Address

Mayor Easterling shared his vision for the future and described the city’s growth and progress in his 2017 State of the City Address to the Kennesaw Business Association on January 10.

His primary focus was a list of seven strategic priorities, which included budget, operational goals, economic development, citizen engagement, SPLOST projects, planning and zoning, and public safety.

He highlighted the health of the city’s economy, citing the ability to designate a reserve fund for the first time in many years. City departments are adopting new strategies to save money and improve efficiency; he spoke of a new management software system – iWORQ – which will allow for easy communication and integration between facilities maintenance, code enforcement, building inspections, and fleet maintenance as well as an e-payment solutions for business license fees, commercial and residential permits, taxes, sanitation, and storm water fees.

Significant growth in residential, retail, and industrial development was described, and many specific projects recently completed, in progress, or just getting set to begin were mentioned. The Mayor also took the time to thank the many local, county and state agencies, volunteer commissions and authorities, and city staff.
