Attention Rutgers Community,
The Rutgers University Police Department is investigating a robbery which was reported to have occurred on Wednesday, February 7, 2017 at approximately 11 PM. The incident occurred at 155 University Avenue, Newark, NJ.
In this incident, the victim, a Rutgers University Student, was approached by 2 males, upon arriving at a pre-arranged meeting. The assailants grabbed him from behind, and demanded personal property. The assailants then fled the area on foot. The victim sustained minor physical injuries and declined medical attention.
The descriptions of the assailants are as follows:
Assailant 1 - Light skin Black or Hispanic male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt.
Assailant 2 - Black male, approximately 5'6” tall, wearing tight blue jeans and a black t-shirt.
Patrols have been increased in this area. Any person who may have witnessed the assailants or has any relevant information should contact the Rutgers University Police Department at (973) 353-1818 (24x7) or a detective from the Rutgers Police Investigations Unit at (973) 972-6394.
