Putnamville Trooper Spots Escapee within Minutes
 
Parke County—This afternoon at 2:51, the Parke County Sheriff’s Office notified the Indiana State Police Region V Dispatch Center of an escapee from custody, 39-year-old Terry Hensley Sr. of Indianapolis. Hensley was last seen driving a stolen black 2006 Toyota pickup eastbound from the Parke County Courthouse.
 
At 2:59, Indiana State Police Master Trooper Gary Winters spotted the suspect vehicle turn south onto County Road 275 East from US 36, just east of Rockville. Master Trooper Winters activated his emergency lighting and the suspect fled south to New Discovery Road. At New Discovery Road, Parke County Sheriff’s Deputy Brad McNeill joined the pursuit as it continued eastbound toward State Road 59. At SR 59 and New Discovery Road, Parke County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jason Frazier applied Tire Deflation Devices which the suspect struck causing eventual tire deflation to one or more tires. As the chase went south on SR 59, traffic was light as the suspect continued in his attempt to evade officers. On CR 700 East near SR 59, the suspect veered the stolen vehicle into ISP Senior Trooper Brent Hoover causing minor damage to the ISP commission. The chase continued south ultimately ending at the north edge of Clay County in the town of Carbon at 49 East North 5th Street (5th and Poplar Streets area) dead end road, at approximately 3:10p.m. Terry Hensley Sr. was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Parke County Jail.
 
Master Trooper Gary Winters preliminarily charged Hensley with multiple counts of Criminal Recklessness (felony); Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle (felony); Reckless Driving and other miscellaneous traffic violations.
