The eroded area is an approximately 200-foot section upstream, or south, of the Improvement District No. 3 subdivision. // Emergency repairs to the eroded area are currently underway. However, if the repair efforts are unsuccessful, the embankment may breech. // If a breech occurs, there is a concern that local roads may flood, causing residents in the Kelso Creek communities to become trapped in their homes. Additionally, structural damage to homes could occur. // Due to the ongoing situation, your Kern County emergency authorities advise you that flooding may become a threat to the Kelso Creek communities in the near future, and all residents are asked to be prepared to leave the area at a moment’s notice if it becomes necessary. Please note that your Kern County emergency authorities ask only that you be prepared to leave if necessary. // Please remain aware of your surroundings and, if at any time feel at risk, proceed to higher ground. As a safety precaution, do not drive or walk across moving water, mud, or other debris flow. // Please closely monitor flood conditions in your area. Please make sure your neighbors are alerted.
