WFPD Arrest Man for Multiple Burglaries
At around midnight on January 22, 2017, the victim reported a burglary of a business located in the 4700 blk of Jacksboro Hwy. During the investigation it was determined that among other things, a set of keys to a vehicle were stolen along with a set of keys to the gate. With this information, officers set up on the business believing that the suspect would eventually return and steal the vehicle. It didn’t take long. At approximately 3 a.m. on January 23, the suspect did just that. He was detained at the scene as he was attempting to enter onto the property. He was found to be in possession of a set of vehicle keys. The officers recovered the keys from the suspect and started the vehicle, which was on the property of the business. The suspect was identified as Stephen Maxwell. He was arrested at the scene for burglary of a building and the case was then turned over to detectives to continue the investigation for possible links to unsolved burglaries in the area. Through the diligent efforts of the Property Crimes section Maxwell was linked to 5 additional burglaries in the Jacksboro Hwy area dating back to December of last year. Total bond amount for the burglaries was set at $35,000.
