Modesto, CA – A collaboration between two police agencies 1,700 miles apart, puts two murder suspects behind bars.
On Saturday, November 26, 2016 at approximately 5 p.m., Modesto Police Department officers responded to the report of a stabbing in the 100 block of Almond Avenue. When officers arrived they found 56-year-old Patrick Hutchings of Modesto with multiple stab wounds. Hutchings was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
After a long investigation, detectives were able to identify 26-year-old Coty Sutton as a suspect. Detectives also received information that Sutton and his girlfriend, Amber Anderson 22 years, had fled out of state to Missouri. Last week, Modesto Police detectives obtained arrest warrants on Coty Sutton for murder and Amber Anderson for accessory to murder. Today, the St. Joseph Police Department located Sutton and Anderson and took them into custody.
Media note: Booking photos are unavailable at this time.
Detectives would still like to speak to anyone with information regarding the murder and the whereabouts of Sutton and Anderson since Nov 26, 2016. Anyone with information can contact Detective Robert Gumm at 209-342-9162.
