Jackson, WY (2-11-17 5:10 pm) Teton Village/Airport Outage Update
We are on! We have had a few glitches so far but are fully restored at Teton Village, the airport, and surrounding areas.

We will continue to monitor the situation the rest of today and the evening. Restoration of the area will be our next step. Going forward we will evaluate all options to reconstruct the line this summer.
We appreciate the patience, support and understanding of this community we are proud to serve. We cannot thank enough both the community and the support services that make this valley run smoothly.

We would like to again extend our thanks to all the local and regional entities who have without hesitation sent tremendous resources to help us, most especially the 5 neighboring utilities: High Plains Power, Idaho Falls Power, Fall River Rural Electric, Bonneville Power, and Wasatch Electric, along with the crews from the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The emergency services team headed by Rich Ochs at the Emergency Operations Center has been truly exceptional.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE 02/11/2017 at 12:38pm - Lower Valley Energy advises that starting at 1:00pm on 2/11/17 they will re-energize the Crystal Springs Substation at Teton Village.  Customers can expect power to be restored in stages throughout the afternoon and evening today, 2/11/17.  Power can be expected to come up and down as the grid stabilizes and customers that are currently on back-fed power get switched over to the newly-installed lines.

In anticipation of this power restoration, Lower Valley Energy requests your assistance in bringing power back in the most stable way possible. We ask that you restrict your energy use to essential needs for the entire day, which includes reducing your heating and electronic usage. The area of curtailment would be the areas affected this week by the transmission poles failure. As we energize transformers and bring on feeders, the less load we serve, the more stability we can bring to the power restoration. 

Your local emergency response team is doing the following in anticipation of the power restoration and would like the public’s assistance:

• Teton Village Fire Department is staffing volunteer firefighters to help with re-entry of residents and businesses and to respond to calls as needed.
• Teton County Sheriff’s Office and Wyoming Highway Patrol will be increasing patrols in the area of Highway 390 and Teton Village this afternoon to help with traffic control as people return to Teton Village area.
• The public is asked to use extreme caution on Highway 390, as utility crews are still actively working.  They have done a tremendous service for our community, so please slow down to help keep them safe.
• As power is restored, residential and commercial alarm systems may trip and cause false alarms. If you have a false alarm, please call your alarm company as quickly as possible to cancel response so we don’t send first responders to false alarm calls.
• If you are a business or resident in Teton Village, please try to reduce back-and-forth trips on Highway 390 to reduce traffic congestion.
• Customers impacted by the outage may not have power come on until late tonight and should be prepared for that if they are going out to properties to unplug appliances, turn off heat, or take other actions to reduce electricity usage.
• Our 9-1-1 center does not have any further information on road conditions or the power outage. Please only use 9-1-1 for emergencies.

• Conditions around the county are extremely icy due to the warm to cold transition we are experiencing. Use extreme caution while driving and walking around town.
• START Bus plans to begin its regular schedule on Monday 2/13/17.  Free fares will continue through Sunday 2/12/17 and fares will start again on Monday.  This situation could change, so be sure to check www.startbus.com for the latest information.
• Teton Pass closure is expected to run through Sunday 2/12/17 at 8:00am.  Be sure to check http://wyoroad.info for the latest information, as road conditions are changing constantly.
