Phone Scam Advisory for Albion Residents
Albion Public Safety has been made aware of a local phone scam where the individual calls stating there is a problem with your credit card information. The caller ID shows up as a City Hall number on the your phone and you will get a City Hall voicemail upon call back. The calls are made on the weekend and evenings when City Hall is not open, so you will not get a person on call back. The individual will call multiple times, assuming you will call the number back and think it is an actual call from the City of Albion. The City of Albion DOES NOT call anyone asking for credit card information over the phone. It is very simple for individuals to use Caller ID Spoofing to make you think a call is coming from somewhere it is not. You should never provide credit card information over the phone to someone who calls you.
