LAKE LURE OFFICER EXCEEDS IN CONTINUED EDUCATION
The Lake Lure Police Department encourages continued education for its officers. One of those officer's continues to exceed expectations.
Officer Christopher (Chris) Shuford is the 275 participant to receive the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Certificate given by the State of North Carolina Department of Justice. Officer Shuford completed this program with over 500 hours of education. Additionally, he recently received his Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate, a well sought after accomplishment among law enforcement officers.
The Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Certificate Program is designed to recognize the achievement of law enforcement professionals who have dedicated themselves to make the highways safer for our citizens. Officer Shuford, by completing this program, has mastered several important aspects of traffic enforcement and related topics, thus achieving a high level of professionalism for himself as well as the department.
Officer Shuford has trained at the North Carolina Justice Academy, located in Edneyville, North Carolina. The Justice Academy is a division of the North Carolina Department of Justice under the administration of Attorney General Josh Stein.

Having this education allows us to use his expertise while conducting investigations. He’s quite an asset for the police department and the Town of Lake Lure.”
