HMPD Officer Arrests Man for Narcotics Violations.
On Friday, February 10, 2017 at approximately 9:20pm, a Hope Mills Police Officer stopped a vehicle on Legion Road for a stop sign violation that was observed by the Officer. Upon making contact with the driver, later identified as William Michael Shorter, 29 of the 5900 block of Notblake Drive, Hope Mills, the Officer observed items in the vehicle that were indicative of the presence of illegal narcotics. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, the Officer located Cocaine, Heroin, and MDMA (Ecstasy) in the vehicle. The Officer also located paraphernalia associated with the use of illegal narcotics. After locating the narcotics, Shorter was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed under a $3500.00 bond for the following charges:

1 count of Felony Possession of Heroin
1 count of Felony Possession of MDMA
1 count of Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
