Three Injured in I-65 Crash Near Seymour
Jackson County-Yesterday, at approximately 4:45 pm, the Indiana State Police responded to a two vehicle crash on I-65 northbound at the 55 mile marker which led to three people being transported for medical treatment.
The initial investigation by Trooper Tia Deaton indicated that a 2017 Honda Accord being driven by Ye Sun, age 23, Urbana, Illinois was merging onto northbound I-65 from State Road 11 when he pulled into the path of a 2000 Freightliner tractor trailer driven by Said Adam, age 37, Cincinnati, Ohio. Sun’s vehicle collided with the trailer Adam was pulling causing Sun’s vehicle to overturn before coming to rest in the northbound lanes of I-65.
Sun along with his two passengers were injured in the collision. Sun was extricated from the vehicle before being flown to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of serious injuries. His two passengers were transported to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana for treatment of their injuries. Adam was not injured in the collision.
I-65 northbound was closed for approximately two hours for crash investigation and cleanup.
Trp. Deaton was assisted by Trp. Michael Thiron, Jackson County Deputies Jeff Walters, Adam Nicholson, and Mitch Ray, Jackson County EMS, Seymour Fire Department, and Stat Flight Medical Ambulance.
