Vehicle Pursuit and Assault with Deadly Weapon. - Press Release
At 0243 hours, Pleasanton Police initiated a vehicle pursuit, which started in the City of Pleasanton, continued through the cities of Dublin and San Ramon, and ultimately ended in the City of Dublin. The suspect drove down a dead end in the Dublin Meadows Apartment Complex. The suspect was driving a stolen van and used the van to ram the pursuing police vehicle two times in an attempt to escape the dead end. The suspect drove forward, through a cyclone fence, over an embankment, and submerged the van into the Alamo Creek near the Iron Horse Trail. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the creek area. With the assistance of Dublin Police Services a perimeter was established. A K-9 search was conducted but the search was met with negative results.
The suspect vehicle, a 2002 Ford Econoline Van, California license plate number 6V72251, was reported stolen out of Oakland, CA on 02/02/2017. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male adult in his late 40’s to early 50’s. During an area search of the complex, some clothing, most likely discarded by the suspect, was recovered so it is unknown what the suspect is currently wearing. If anyone matching the suspect description is seen in the surrounding neighborhoods in Dublin, please notify the police. Neither the officer, bystanders nor other motorists were injured as a result of this incident.
